A location search will return a list of markers within a specified distance in miles from a location given in decimal degrees. The default distance is 10 miles, but can be changed. An example looks like "43.2168,-75.4535,10" where "latitude,longitude,distance" are separated by comma's.
Your device's location services can be enabled by clicking the location icon next to the search field, and your location will be automatically entered into the search field. Click the search icon once your location appears in the search field to initiate the search.
The location icon can also be used to display your current location on the marker Map View page.
Enter a 5-digit Zip Code and a list of markers within 10 miles from the center of the Zip Code boundary area will be returned. Alternatively, a different distance can be specified by adding a comma and distance such as "13440,20".
Special keywords have been reserved to return a list of markers by organization. Currently there are only two:

A word search will attempt to match a word or phrase to the text within the text of a marker. Using only one word is recommended to maximize the results. For example, searching the phrase "99 loft balloons" will not return any results, however, searching the phrase "balloon" may.
Some of the more common search terms may include, but not limited to: war, church, cemetery, grave, buried, revolution, civil, indian.
Omitted from a word search is the marker's Location and County. A complete marker listing based on County and/or Location can be retrieved from the Marker Database page.
